Information | In this session we will look at various IFRS Standards dealing with non-financial assets. The relevant aspects of non-financial assets that will be covered are:
❖ The definition of an asset and the recognition criteria under the Conceptual Framework for the preparation and presentation of Financial Statements revised in 2018 and make a basic comparison with the 2010 Conceptual Framework
❖ The requirements under IAS 16 Property plant and equipment where the following will be looked at:
1. The definition of Property plant and equipment
2. The elements of cost allowed for capitalisation focusing on decommissioning costs demolition costs as well and the implication of a qualifying asset
3. The definition of residual value and useful life
4. The definition and purpose of depreciation
5. The concept of revaluation discussing about its accounting entries the exception relating to its normal accounting rules and the implications in the statement of changes in equity
6. The definition of biological assets
7. Clarification of acceptable method of depreciation in relation to revenue
❖ The requirements under IAS 38 Intangible assets where the following will be looked at:
1. The definition of intangible assets
2. Recognition and measurement principles
3. Types of intangible assets
4. Subsequent remeasurement principles
5. Internally generated intangible assets
6. The amortisation method based on revenue
❖ The requirements of SIC intangible assets on web site cost
❖ What are cryptoassets and cryptocurrencies |
